Finally, a fun plane story!


While most of the recent discussions surrounding air travel have related to the surprisingly difficult task of keeping the damn doors on the plane, there have also been some bright spots — specifically, this video that was recently posted on X/Twitter showing a man in a jet suit racing an Airbus A380.



In the video, a man can be seen flying right alongside the Emirates plane. According to Red Bull, who I trust to have knowledge about this sort of insane nonsense, the man in the video is Vincent Reffet, and the flight was organized by XDubai in collaboration with Emirates Air and the local aviation authorities. Yes, of course this happened in Dubai.



Sadly, the video is a bit dated, and Reffet later died in a jetsuit accident after his emergency parachute failed to deploy.


The lesson? This is incredibly dangerous — but dang it if it isn’t cool.
